The Robot Studio - shop.therobot.studio
We ship high-value robotics hardware, most of it by freight. This page explains how delivery works, what to do the moment your shipment arrives, and how returns, warranty and cancellations are handled. Please read it before ordering.
These terms apply to robots and equipment purchased on shop.therobot.studio. Robot rentals and event bookings arranged through therobot.studio are a separate service with their own terms.
Questions: info@therobot.studio
1. Where we ship
We ship within the United States only.
Standard delivery covers the 48 contiguous states. Alaska, Hawaii and US territories are quoted case by case - contact us before ordering.
Shipping outside the US is not available through checkout. If you are an international buyer, request a quote and we will tell you what is possible.
2. Shipping cost
Delivery is included in the price of every product. There is no separate shipping charge at checkout, on any item.
Included freight means delivery by our carrier to a curbside, loading dock, or ground-floor address during standard business hours, with the shipment released to you at the truck.
The following are not included and are quoted separately before we ship:
- Liftgate service (where you have no loading dock or forklift)
- Inside delivery, or delivery to a specific room or floor
- Stairs, elevators, or any carry beyond the point of delivery
- Residential delivery, limited-access sites, and scheduled delivery appointments
- Uncrating, assembly, setup, or debris removal
- Alaska, Hawaii and US territories
If your site needs any of these, tell us at the time of order. If our carrier arrives and the delivery cannot be completed because the site was not as described, redelivery and storage charges are payable by you.
3. Lead times and delivery dates
Lead time varies by product and is shown on each product page. Some robots are built to order.
We will confirm an estimated shipment date after your order is placed. Delivery estimates are estimates only and are not guaranteed.
If we cannot ship by the date we gave you - or, where no date was given, within 30 days of your order - we will contact you with a revised date and you may cancel for a full refund, no questions asked. If we cannot reach you or you do not accept the revised date, we will refund you automatically.
4. Receiving your shipment
A signature is required on all freight deliveries. Someone must be present to receive the robot.
This part matters more than any other section on this page. Once you sign a clean delivery receipt, your ability - and ours - to recover from the carrier is severely limited.
Before you sign:
- Inspect the crate or carton while the driver is still there. Do not let anyone rush you.
- Photograph the shipment on the truck, before it is unloaded, and again once it is down.
- If you see any damage - a crushed corner, a puncture, water staining, a shifted or leaning crate, broken banding - write it on the delivery receipt in specific terms before signing. "Crate corner crushed, banding broken" is useful. "Damaged" is not.
- If the damage looks severe, refuse the delivery and contact us immediately at info@therobot.studio before the driver leaves.
- If you cannot inspect properly, write "SUBJECT TO INSPECTION" on the delivery receipt before signing.
After the driver leaves:
- Unpack and inspect within 48 hours, even if the outside looked fine. Concealed damage is common in freight.
- Report any damage to us within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs of the item, the packaging, and the signed delivery receipt.
- Keep all packaging exactly as it arrived until the claim is resolved. Do not break down or dispose of the crate.
Carriers allow only a short window to file a damage claim. Damage reported after 48 hours may not be recoverable, and we may be unable to help.
5. Returns
All sales are final, except where an item arrives defective, damaged in transit, or is not what you ordered. We do not accept change-of-mind returns or exchanges on robots, end-effectors, accessories or parts.
This is standard for professional robotics hardware at this price point, and it is why we ask you to talk to us before you buy. If you are unsure which platform fits your application, request a quote or email info@therobot.studio and we will help you choose. We would much rather spend an hour on the phone before the order than have you receive the wrong robot.
5.1 If something is wrong with your order
If your item arrives defective, damaged in transit, or is not what you ordered, we make it right at no cost to you - replacement or full refund, your choice, and we pay shipping both ways.
- Damaged in transit, or wrong item: report within 48 hours of delivery (see section 4).
- Defective on arrival: report within 30 days of delivery.
- A fault that appears later in normal use is handled under the warranty in section 7.
Contact info@therobot.studio with your order number to start a claim. A Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number is required before you ship anything back. Items sent back without an RMA cannot be processed or refunded.
5.2 Refunds
Once an approved return arrives and passes inspection, we will email you to confirm and issue your refund to the original payment method within 10 business days. Your bank or card issuer may take several days more to post it.
6. Pre-orders and cancellations
Some robots are sold as pre-orders. You may cancel a pre-order at any time before it ships for a full refund.
Once a pre-ordered item has shipped, the terms in section 5 apply.
We may decline or cancel any order, in whole or in part, before shipment - including after an order confirmation - for example where a product is discontinued, mispriced, or where we cannot verify the order. You will be refunded in full.
7. Warranty
Products are warranted against manufacturing defects for 12 months from the date of delivery, except:
- Batteries, consumables, and wearable components: 90 days.
- Where the manufacturer's own warranty differs, the terms shown on the product page apply.
To make a warranty claim, contact info@therobot.studio with your order number, serial number, proof of purchase, and photos or video of the fault. For valid warranty claims you pay shipping to us; we pay to ship the repaired or replaced unit back.
The warranty does not cover:
- Falls, tipping, or impact. Legged and dynamically balancing robots fall from time to time as a normal consequence of operating in the real world. This is not a defect.
- Changes in software, firmware, or AI behaviour. These systems are continuously updated, and a change in how a robot behaves is not a defect.
- Misuse, abuse, accident, or operation outside the manufacturer's stated environmental limits
- Unauthorised repair, disassembly, or modification
- Use of third-party or unsupported accessories
- Water, corrosion, or contamination damage
- Cosmetic damage and normal wear and tear
8. Compliance and permitted use
By ordering you confirm that:
- You will comply with all applicable US export control and sanctions laws, including the regulations of the Bureau of Industry and Security, the Department of State, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
- You will not export, re-export, transfer, or divert any product to any embargoed or sanctioned country, entity, or individual.
- You will not use any product as a weapon, to enable a weapon, or to harm or intimidate any person or animal, and you will not use it for any illegal or ultra-hazardous purpose.
- You are buying for your own use - personal, educational, research, or internal business - and not for resale, unless we have authorised you in writing as a dealer.
Certain products are sold only to businesses, educational institutions, and research organisations, or are available by quotation only.
9. Sales tax and exemptions
Applicable sales tax is calculated and shown at checkout based on your delivery address.
If your organisation is tax exempt, email your exemption certificate to info@therobot.studio before placing your order so we can set your account up correctly. We cannot refund tax already collected on a completed order without a valid certificate on file.
10. Nothing here limits your legal rights
This policy does not limit any rights you have under the consumer protection laws of your state.
